BECOME A TURTLE ANGLE: ADOPT A TURTLE!
$20.00 per adoption per year.
Team ECCO announces a new way to support our environmental programs: ADOPT A TURTLE!
Choose from any of our 5 aquatic turtles, or our new box turtle (which arrives after September 15th). As a donor, you will receive a photo of your chosen turtle, letter updates, a certificate of adoption, and have your name placed on the poster of adoptive parents. If you are a child adopting a turtle, we can bring the turtle to your classroom for show and tell. If you are an adult, you can have “take your turtle to work day”! Group sponsors can have a turtle visit at a meeting! Team ECCO will transport the turtle to you within Henderson County.
Proceeds from the adoptions will benefit the interactive education programs at our Team ECCO Ed-venture Center. A portion of the money raised will also go to the box turtle rehabilitation program run by Steve O’Neil at Earth Shine Lodge in Brevard , and the sea turtle programs of the NC Outer Banks.
Adoption forms are available able at the Ed-venture Center, on the web site under the documents tab, or by emailing bjramer@team-ecco.com
This event continues all year! Early adoptions available – just print out and mail in the adoption form with your check.
This is a unique gift idea or a special way to let someone know you care – adopt a turtle in their name!
Please feel free to share this opportunity with your family, friends, and co-workers. Maybe even pitch in together to adopt one or more! Scouts and youth groups welcome to adopt! Senior living communities join in!
Our turtles:
Sparky is a Red Eared Slider, that will turn 2 years old at Mother's Day! He was donated by a private party in Asheville. He was our first Ed-Bassador!
Flo is a baby Red Eared Slider, and she will turn 1 year old at Easter. She came from one of our Aqua Guides, Cameron, who thought Flo would like the company of our other turtles rather than live alone.
Kiwi is a Yellow Eared / Yellow Belly slider who came to us from an educational breader, and will be 1 on Valentine Day. She is the calmest turtle.
Shella is a Rio Grande Red Eared Slider who came from Texas. she will turn 1 on Valentine Day. Shella has beautiful yellow stripes on her shell.
Spike is a Mississippi Map turtle from the low wetlands of Mississippi. He 1 year old at Halloween. Spike is our resident "wild man" and the mot outgoing of all te turtles.
Tiny is WNC box turtle that had an encounter with a cat. She is part of the box turtle rehabilitation at Earth Shine in Brevard.
